Fr.

he Rev. Fr. Peter A. G.
Scott was born in Nassau, the youngest child of Mrs. Marjorie Scott nee
Smith, and the late Ross W. Scott. He
was educated at St. John’s Prep, the Government High School and the then
C.R. Walker Technical College.
Following a stint in the
Banking and Insurance fields, Fr. Scott went off to Codrington College in
1980 to test his vocation for the ordained ministry. He graduated in June
1984 with his Lth. Degree in Theology, and was ordered a Deacon on July 2nd
of that same year. He was ordained a Priest on Jun 28th, 1985.
Both ordinations took place at Christ Church Cathedral, his home
parish and were performed by the Rt. Rev. Michael H. Eldon, former
Diocesan Bishop.
Fr. Scott served his Curacy at St. Barnabas Church under the Rt. Rev Gilbert Thompson, 1984-87.
Over the ensuing years, Fr. Scott has served at St. Peter’s Long
Island, St. Margaret’s North Andros, Holy Cross, New Providence, St.
Andre’s Exuma and St. Matthew’s Nassau, where he presently servers as
Assistant Priest since Sept 1998.
A good organizer and
counselor, Fr. Scott is probably best know for his involvement with and
for the young people of this Diocese and Nation.
Starting from his early days at the Cathedral, this year marks the
25th anniversary of working with the Youth.
Fr. Scott is also a former Club and Scout leader, a repeat winner
in the Bahamas Music Festival solo singing division, and one of the
founding twelve choristers in the former Cathedral Men and Boys Choir.
Fr. Scott also served on the Diocesan Youth Council for many years.
From 1994, Fr Scott has served as the Chaplain/ Counsellor at the Bahamas
Hotel Training College, as well as a member of their Advisory Board. He
now serves as the part-time counselor of the School of Hospitality,
College of the Bahamas. He is a proud adopted Father of one son, Cleveland
Saunders, who is married to the former Andrea Fernander of Governor’s
Harbour, Eleuthera, and this happy couple has one daughter, Cleandra.
